‘Age is matter of mind’

YMCA East Hampton RECenter celebrates the Active Older (Elder) Adults on May 30th.

It’s going to take more than bingo to keep the latest generation of retirees happy.  People used to retire at 65 and lived perhaps a few more years. Now life expectancies are much longer.

Some snarl when the word “senior” is used to describe their stage of life. The word ‘Senior’ to some just says ‘old,’ so what about ‘Elderhood’?

eld·er 1  (ldr)

adj.

1. Greater than another in age or seniority.

2. Superior to another or others, as in rank.

What do you think?

Today’s retirees, particularly the baby boomers, are determined to stay healthy and active and live with a purpose.  They also want to be as physically vital as their mindset.
