With Thanks on Memorial Day...for Freedom

Memorial Day brings to mind something that we all should remember as Americans.

All too often I forget the importance of, or even slightly take for granted, the things that we come to expect as American citizens. With that in mind, I sit today and think about Memorial Day, and what it represents to me. It represents something I can not get from a magic pill. It represents something I can not hold in my hand, but only in my heart and spirit. It represents something I certainly can not buy. Memorial Day represents FREEDOM...

Freedom is the one thing, in many fashions, we stand for as Americans. It makes us unique in the global view, as we built this country based on its principles. Freedom is the very essence of social happiness. Freedom to choose. Freedom of will. Freedom to wonder in opportunity. Without it, we cease to exist not only as a society, but as a humanity as well.

This Memorial Day I wish not to take it for granted, but to say "Thank you" to those who allowed me the luxury to experience freedom like no other country in the world. To all the courageous people who not only put their lives out there for freedom, but stood for something, even when others, and I, could not for ourselves.
