Menorah Lightings, Hanukkah Celebration Slated for This Weekend

Join the Jewish community in celebrating the Festival of Lights, which begins at sundown on Wednesday.

In Southampton Village, the annual public menorah lighting will take place at the corner of Jobs Lane and Main Street. Mayor Mark Epley, Southampton Village Trustees, and Rabbi Rafe Konikov will attend. Traditional Hanukkah songs will be performed, hot latkes will be served, and there will be a special tribute to the American and Israeli armed forces. It begins at 3:15 p.m.

A Southampton Hanukkah celebration is planned for Saturday night at the Southampton Hospital Parrish Hall at 6:30. There will be fun for both adults and children of all ages with "The Incredible Bubble Show" with Jeff Boyer. A hot latke bar, live music, and Hanukkah sand art are also planned. Also on the fourth night of Hanukkah, the second annual Menorahcade will be held in East Hampton, starting at Chabad Lubavitch of the Hamptons at 13 Woods Lane at 6 p.m. The motorcade will end at Herrick Park in the village, where a menorah lighting will be held at 6:30 p.m.

A menorah lighting will also be held at the windmill in Sag Harbor on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor will hold a multi-generational Hanukkah Party on Sunday at 3 p.m. Latkes and sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts) will be served, and there will be dreidle games. Hanukkahh songs, a drumming circle, dancing, a Hanukkah Cookie Bake-Off with prizes, olive oil tasting and candle lighting (bring your own menorah) are also planned. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person to defray expenses.
