Southampton Kiwanis Donates Food Baskets to Those in Need

The club packed and donated 350 food baskets.

Southampton Town Kiwanis Club, a not for profit community service group, has donated 350 holiday baskets community member in need in Southampton and Hampton Bays.

The baskets were hand-delivered to both food pantries and families whose children attend Hampton Bays Elementary School, the Phillips Avenue School and Tuckahoe.

The holiday baskets, according to the Kiwanis Club, were packed full of 200 pounds of food that the organization purchased at a wholesale food club for $8,000.

Each of the baskets, which were packed by volunteers, included items like soups, canned vegetables, spaghetti, sauce, peanut butter and jelly, rice and beans.

Families also got a special treat provided by Hampton Bays Key Club members Sarah Jiudice and Justin Strecker, who packed holiday bags filled with cookies or muffins that were added to the food baskets.
