Friends To Honor Memory of Schoolmate At Charity Event

The event at the Southampton Publick House will benefit St. Jude's.

Hampton Bays residents Megan Flynn, Ana Guario,  Katie Spellman were always the best of friends — they played sports together and studied together. Then, in April 2008 Spellman lost her battle to Leukemia.

Now, Flynn and Guario want to honor the memory of their friend by not only running a Rock n’ Roll Half marathon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Nashville, TN in April 2014, but also by holding a charity event at the Southampton Publick House, located at 40 Bowden Square in Southampton Village.

The ladies night event, called "Charity on Top," is scheduled for Dec. 26 with Flynn, who is in her third year of medical school, serving as bartender, vowing to donate her tips to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

During the event, Guario, who is currently working on her MBA in Charleston, SC,  will share facts about childhood cancer and St. Jude's.

“It costs $1.8 million a day to operate its facility and programs," said Guario. "Megan and I want to make a difference in memory of Katie and all the other children who have suffered from cancer and other childhood diseases.”

The event, which has a $5 donation cover charge, will also feature DJ Tony Kerr and raffles.

“We are thankful for Don and the Southampton Publick House’s help with our fundraising, “ said the girls.  As past employees, they’re looking forward to “seeing old friends and having a great night for a great cause.”
