Students Honored for Plastic Bag Poster Entries

Students from local schools receive certificates of appreciation at the event.

Southampton Town held events at the Bridgehampton King Kullen and Hampton Bays Stop & Shop grocery stores Saturday as part of the town's "A Greener Southampton — The Solution Is in the Bag" campaign, which promotes choosing reusable shopping bags and recycling the plastic bags that are used.

Residents were asked to take a pledge, with the overall goal of eliminating single use plastic bags from the environment and landfills.

Students from participating schools were invited to the events to receive certificates of appreciation for entering a Plastic Bag Poster Contest that encourages residents to reduce, reuse and recycle.
