Community Corner

Traditional New England Barn Dance

A traditional New England barn dance, or Contra Dance, is an aerobic, community oriented dance that has warmed people for hundreds of years.  This Saturday, February 1st, at 8pm, Chart Guthrie will be calling the dances and Dunegrass will play the tunes that keep our feet stomping and hands clapping.  At 7:45pm there will be a lesson on the steps to the dance and at 8pm the music begins.  Refreshments are served and it is recommend that participants bring a snack to share.  Wear comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes.  General admission is $14 at the door, $7 for students and free for kids under 16 years old.  Sponsored by the Long Island Traditional Music Association.  For more information, go to: www.litma.org or call 631-725-3103
