Dr. Daniel Madigan - Stony Brook University
"Nukes, Nigiri, and Nonsense: The Many Faces of Fukushima Fish"

Dr. Daniel Madigan, a post-doctoral scholar at Stony Brook University, has been a leading researcher into Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant disaster that began in 2011. He has specifically tracked the levels of radiation in Pacific bluefin tuna caught in California and has generated evidence of these migrating animals transporting radioactive materials across the ocean. His work has demonstrated this radiation can provide a means for tracking the fish's annual migrations.
