NSCA to Host 23rd Annual Wine & Cheese Party

The North Sea Community Association will host its 23rd Annual Wine & Cheese Party to raise funds for the upkeep of its building on February 4, 2013, 7pm to 9:30pm. The evening will include  a Chinese Auction of gifts from local businesses and a 50/50 Raffle Drawing which will be drawn that evening. Admission is $10.  The North Sea Community House is located at 130 Noyack Road, Southampton, NY 11968.

The meeting house was constructed in 1929 as a schoolhouse.  In 1934  residents in North Sea incorporated as the North Sea Community Association, Inc. in order to purchase the “old schoolhouse” from the local school district.  They wanted it to be preserved in perpetuity for the benefit of the local community. The purpose was to provide the residents of North Sea with a place to meet, explore ideas, and collectively advance the betterment and beautification of our unique community.

During the holidays the North Sea Community Association, Inc. seeks out local families in need of assistance by either supplying them with food, so they can enjoy the holiday in their own homes, or warm clothing for the winter. The North Sea Community Association, Inc. also offers two small scholarships in June to local teens so they can further their education beyond high school.

Every other year the North Sea Community Association, Inc. hosts “Meet the Candidates Night”.  As a fraternal organization the sole purpose is to acquaint the local community with all candidates running for the Southampton Town Board. This is about as “grass roots” as voters and government can get.

The historic building is also the site of numerous events for not for profit organizations such as readings by the North Sea Poetry Project. It is also a popular venue for weddings and parties. Throughout the year, the North Sea Community Association regularly plays host to many special events for the community such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt and 4th of July Fireworks.

Funds raised from dues and any fund raisers during the year go to the upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds, insurance, fuel oil, the scholarships, and the holiday assistance (Good and Welfare) programs.
