Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Shelter Island Historical Society Havens House Barn

On Saturday, April 19 at 4:30pm, the Shelter Island Poetry Project will


join with members of Artists of Shelter Island (ARTSI) in a special poetry reading titled Muse to Muse...Poets Look at Art".

The reading is the opening event for an art show at the Barn featuring nine Shelter Island artists: KC Bailey, Jackie Black, Janet Culbertson, Roz Dimon, Victor Friedman, Kathy Hammond, Mary Larsen, Kia Pedersen and Mike Zisser.

will present masterpieces of “art” poetry by both classic and contemporary writers including W.H. Auden, John Ashbery, Adrienne Rich, Anne Sexton, Philip Larkin, Ted Kooser, Campbell McGrath, Carl Dennis, Adam Zagajewski and more. All selections will be read by Shelter Island fans of art, poetry and spring.



Doors will open at 4pm, the reading begins at 4:30pm. A reception with the artists and readers will follow. The art show will remain on view Sunday, April 20 and April 26 - 27, from 1pm to 5pm at the Shelter Island Historical Society Havens Barn, 16 South Ferry Road.  Admission is free.
