UPDATE2: Winter Storm Warning Issued for East End; 12-18 Inches of Snow in Forecast

Snow could be even deeper than 18 inches in some areas.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday, and the National Weather Service is forecasting even more snow for the East End than was predicted earlier.

Monday's prediction of 7 to 14 inches rose to 10 to 15 inches Tuesday morning, and now the latest forecart says to expect between 12 and 18 inches of snow, with more possible in some areas. The heaviest snow is expected after midnight into early Wednesday morning, and scattered thunderstorms are also possible.

Visibility is predicted to be less than a quarter mile and northeast winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour, with gust of 20 miles per hour, are expected Tuesday night. Northwest winds are slated for Wednesday morning, with gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour.
