Winter Storm Forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday

More than 6 inches of snow could drop on the East End.

A "significant" winter storm is expected to hit the East End Tuesday and Wednesday with more than 6 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong northeast winds in excess of 35 miles per hour may develop with near blizzard conditions possible, especially along the coast, the weather service stated in a forecast Sunday evening. Coastal flooding is projected during high tide Wednesday morning, "especially in areas that were hard hit during ."

"It is still possible that precipitation could mix with or change to rain," the weather service noted.
