Update: Weather Service Forecasts 100 Percent Chance of Snow Friday, Winter Weather Advisory Issued

East End may get another 3 to 5 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 100 percent chance of snow for Friday.

Another winter storm is expected to come on the heels of ice and snow Monday night and Tuesday morning that led to hazardous road conditions on the East End.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday through 1o a.m. Friday for Long Island. Visibility is forecast to be half a mile. The snow will come from the west, with light to moderate snowfall expected during the morning commute.

The heaviest snow is expected to hit mainly after 2 a.m. Friday and to continue until 3 p.m. Early morning snow accumulations may reach 1 to 2 inches and another 2 to 4 inches could drop throughout the day, according to the weather service.

“There is still uncertainty on the exact track and strength of the storm,” the weather service admits.
