Video: Town Dedicates Memorial Bench for Gil Foster

Late Water Mill resident chaired Southampton Town Conservation Board

At Corwith Park on Old Mill Road in Water Mill Tuesday morning, town officials dedicated a memorial bench to the late Gilbert S. Foster, a chairman of the Southampton Town Conservation Board for more than 30 years as well as the president of the Water Mill Rod and Gun Club. He also taught hunter safety courses for many years and served as an adviser to the New York State commissioner of environmental conservation for the Fish and Wildlife Board from Long Island and Westchester. Foster was also on the board of directors for the Quogue Wildlife Refuge and on the board of the Water Mill Cemetery Association.

Foster, a U.S. Air Force veteran, died Sept. 18, 2010, at the age of 87.
