VIDEO: Dozens Head to Beach to See Waves
Southampton residents and tourists hiked over Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays to Dune Road, which is under a mandatory evacuation order.
Being that Dune Road in under an evacuation order, cars were not allowed to drive southbound over Ponquogue Bridge, though many families and groups of friends wanted to get down to Ponquogue Beach to watch the intense waves caused by the incoming hurricane. A few turned around and went home, while others decided to park at the north side of the bridge and walk over to the water.
