Unpaid Parking Ticket Amnesty Available in August

Eligible delinquent payers will be notified by mail of the amnesty program, which waives late penalties.

Drivers who haven't paid off their parking tickets issued by the between June 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2011, are being offered relief.

During the entire month of August, the , with , will waive late fees and fines for delinquent unpaid tickets. Payers will only be responsible for a $5 service fee, on top of the original cost of their ticket.

Those eligible for amnesty will be contacted by mail.

The court does not accept personal checks — only money orders, certified checks and bank checks, which should be mailed. The court is also experimenting with a pilot program for paying off tickets online via credit card. Exact payment procedures will be included in the notification letters.

Those who miss the window of opportunity will again be responsible for paying the full cost of their outstanding tickets, plus any late fees and fines they may have incurred.
