UPDATE: 3 Injured in Noyac Road Collision

Two-car accident caused temporary road closure.

UPDATE 2: Southampton Town Police Sgt. Michael Joyce said Sag Harbor resident Cathy Nieves was driving a Kia Sportage on Roses Grove Road at 2:47 Friday afternoon when she made a left turn onto Noyac Road in front of a 2006 Peterbuilt truck, which was headed west.

Nieves and two passengers were transported by Southampton Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital, Joyce said. The driver of the Peterbuilt, Blair Brown, of Wading River, was not injured.

North Sea Fire Department was also on scene.

Nieves was issued a summons for failing to yield the right of way, Joyce said.

UPDATE: The accident was quickly cleared and Noyac Road was reopened to traffic in both directions.

Southampton Town Police Sgt. Michael Joyce said that a Kia Sportage pulled in front of a tractor trailer at the intersection of Noyac Road and Peconic Bay Avenue.

This sounds pretty cut and dry as to what happened. But Noyac Road is a very dangerous road. Between the constant speed changes and curves and deer and deli stopping, I don't know how any one survives this road. The only good news, my wife lets me drive slow there.

I happen to be right there after it happened as I was heading down Roses Gove towards Noyac road on my way to the dump and couldn't believe my eyes when of all things these days there is a gasoline tanker into a plole and the rear end of tanker blocking most of Noyac Rd. Great job to all the first responders who got there right after this happen or this could have been a lot worst. Good Job NS fire department and Southampton police for getting on scene so quickly and redirecting traffic away from tanker

Sure, now watch the driver sue the Truck driver for HER negligence. She pulled out from a side street right in front of the Peterbuilt Tractor Trailer and he had NO WHERE to go. So, all three of them will sue this poor working guy driving his truck home Friday afternoon. Terrible. The 2 passengers should sue the heck out of the Kia driver ONLY - but that will not happen.
