'Through Farms and Fields' Supper Benefits Land Conservation

Peconic Land Trust event in Water Mill on Sunday celebrates what East End agriculture has to offer.

At the Halseys' Whitecap Farm in Water Mill on Sunday, the Peconic Land Trust is putting on a country supper to celebrate the bounty of the East End.

"Through Farms and Fields" features salad greens and vegetables from local farms, fresh seafood and meats caught or raised on the East End, and wines of Long Island vineyards.

The site of the 10th annual event, Whitecap Farm — on Mecox Bay — is the home of , and Jenn’s Peaches, and has been in the Halsey family for 12 generations.

“We are honored to be welcomed back to Whitecap Farm to celebrate the local bounty of the East End,” said John v.H. Halsey, the president of the . “This incredible multi-generational farm is a wonderful testament to the farming tradition on the East End. John and Evelyn, and their daughters Jennifer and Amy, and their families have been generous hosts and they personify the hospitality of our region’s founding families.” 

The country supper, prepared by Chef Peter Ambrose, includes all local foods, and wine from  in Aquebogue.

The night also includes music and dancing with The Charles Certain Trio, a silent auction, and a live auction with mistress of ceremonies and auctioneer Bonnie Grice of .

Proceeds off the benefit will further the Peconic Land Trust's mission to conserve Long Island's working farms and natural lands. Working with others, the nonprofit has helped conserve 10,000 acres since its inception in 1983.
