Sunday Train Departing Hamptons Added to LIRR Schedule

Extra service will last through Labor Day weekend.

In response to steadily increasing ridership, another Sunday train leaving the Hamptons will run for the remainder of the summer, the Long Island Rail Road recently announced.

The extra service will be offered on Aug. 19 and 26, as well as on Labor Day, Sept. 3. The new addition brings the total number of trains departing the Hamptons on summer Sundays to nine.

"The new train will help meet the growing customer demand on the return trip to New York City on Sunday afternoons," an LIRR statement reads. "To help maximize seating, the LIRR asks customers to store luggage in overhead racks and keep feet off seats. Customers are also reminded to keep aisles and exits clear."
