Storm Watch Rescinded; Winter Weather Advisory in Effect

Friday's snow is now forecast to be less severe than originally predicted.

About 3 to 5 inches of snow are forecast for the East End Friday, slightly less than was predicted earlier.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Thursday night for the East End that is effective from 4 a.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday. The winter storm watch issued earlier is no longer in effect.

Visibility during the snowfall is expected to be 1 to 3 miles, but as few as half a mile or less in heavier snow bands.

The snow will likely effect afternoon and evening travel, the weather service warns.

"A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties," the weather service stated in its forecast. "Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility — and use caution while driving."
