Stores Running Out of Hurricane Supplies

Flashlights, candles and batteries are hot items.

in Southampton Village is currently sold out of flashlights, D and C batteries, and candles, as residents and visitors stock up in preparation for Hurricane Irene — but more supplies are on their way.

Employees said an emergency shipment will arrive at the store at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Originally, the next shipment wasn't planned until Monday, but by then the storm will have already hit, if are accurate.

At in Southampton Village, bottled water and canned food are flying off the shelves, with some customers filling multiple carts with supplies, an employee said. Flashlights and batteries are sold out, but more are being delivered to the grocery store Friday.
