Southampton Village Main Street To Be Closed for Paving

Work will be done Monday through Wednesday.

Main Street in Southampton Village will be closed or partially closed for much of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday due to a repaving project.

After finding out late Thursday that the village is eligible to receive reimbursement of paving costs from New York State for projects completed before May 10, the village scrambled to schedule paving next week, Mayor Mark Epley said Friday. The prep work will be Monday and paving will be done Tuesday, he said. The road will be closed for a couple hours Wednesday morning to paint new stripes, said Stephen Funsch, the village administrator.

Through the state’s Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, the village of Southampton will receive a reimbursement of $200,000 for this paving project and an earlier project on Gin Lane, Epley said.
