Six More Inches of Snow May Be on the Way

Winter storm watch takes effect Wednesday afternoon.

Significant snowfall is possible late Wednesday through Wednesday night, with accumulations of 6 or more inches, the National Weather Service forecasts.

A winter storm watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, with a mix of rain and sleet expected at the onset and the heaviest snow likely falling overnight Wednesday.

The weather service warns that travel may be hazardous during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Due to the tide and breaking waves, coastal erosion is a concern for the North Shore, and for the north side of the South Fork, a weather service hazardous weather outlook stated.
