Services have been announced for two Shinnecock men who , just outside the East Gate Road entrance of the .
Jason "Tek" King, the driver, was 33 years old. Passenger Duane "D.L." White Jr. was 22. Two other passengers, Awan J. Gumbs, 31, and Brian N. Bess Jr., 18, are hospitalized with multiple non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Services for White will be held on Thursday at on County Road 39. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by reflections from noon to 1 p.m. and a funeral at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the reservation cemetery.
Visitation for King is Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at in Southampton Village, with a wake at 8:30 p.m. There will be a second visitation at noon on Saturday at Shinnecock Presbyterian Church, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Havrilla officiating. Interment will follow at the reservation cemetery.
King, a fashion designer with a line called Evitan Couture, was a member of the Tribal Council and former vice chairman. He was also a member of the Warrior Society and co-founder of the Young Men of Shinnecock program.
