Services Begin Friday for Fabian Seyrig de Saussure
Bridgehampton man was 51 years old.
Services are this week for 51-year-old Bridgehampton man Fabian Seyrig de Saussure.
Visitation is Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton Village. There will be a memorial visitation at 5 p.m. Saturday followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. A private cremation will follow.
Seyrig de Saussure was found dead early in the morning May 11 hanging by a rope from a tree in Bridgehampton. Southampton Town police said the death remains under investigation. According to Southampton Village police, on Nov. 16, 2011, Seyrig De Saussure abandoned a chemical suicide attempt and drove himself to Southampton Hospital, where his chemical mixture initiated a HazMat team response outside the emergency room. A month later, he was charged with placing a false bomb or hazardous substance in the first degree, a felony.
Newsday reported Monday that Seyrig de Saussure pleaded guilty, received a suspended sentence and his case was transfered to a mental health court, according to his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., of Southampton. Burke told Newsday that Seyrig de Saussure was doing well and close to his graduation date.
