See what your neighbors are up to.

In addition to Southampton Patch, Patch has the East End covered with the East Hampton, Westhampton-Hampton Bays, North Fork and Riverhead Patches. Here are five recent headlines from our neighboring Patches.

1. The Hamptons Marathon in Springs on Saturday had a record turnout, . A total of 2,609 runners took part in the fifth annual Hamptons Marathon races, with 328 runners taking part in the marathon itself, which started at the Springs School. Shaun Maguire, 25, of Washington, D.C., won the marathon, finishing the 26.2 miles in 2:44:45.

2. In an effort in increase revenue in the solid waste department, as much as $30,000 a year, the town of Southold may once again require residents to separate plastic and metal recyclables, so the town can reap the rewards of selling scrap metal, . Currently the two commingled materials are hauled together, leaving Omni Recycling in Babylon — where the town hauls its recyclables — to sort the materials and reap the rewards.

3. Also , owners Mike and Patti Avella have opened a new business, Love Lane Market, a specialty food shop, featuring fresh local produce, an in-house butcher, fresh pasta, Asian specialties such as fresh-made sushi, a pizza oven and rotisserie.

4. Hampton Bays resident and Marine Corps veteran Ron Zaleski walked the streets barefoot Saturday with a sandwich board that read "18 Vets a Day Commit Suicide," as he collected signatures to petition the military to mandate grief counseling for returning servicemen and women. He says he intends to collect as many signatures as it takes to see his cause come to fruition. .

5. Michael Hubbard, a Riverhead boy , has been transported to Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y., . The 15-year-old boy, who suffered third-degree burns to his face, chest and arms, has been in a coma since the incident on May 28. He was picked up at Stony Brook University Hospital for his transfer by the same Riverhead ambulance team that saved his life.
