Sept. 22 Declared 'Pararescue Day' in Southampton Town

Proclamation marks the occasion of the pararescue association reunion on the East End.

A five-day biennial is taking place on the East End this month, and to mark the occasion the Southampton Town Board on Wednesday declared Sept. 22, 2012, "Pararescue Day."

The Town Board presented a proclamation to MSgt. Jules Roy, SSgt. Mark Joseloff, and SSgt. Mathew Zimmer, members of the 103rd Rescue Squadron of the Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing.

Hundreds of active and retired pararescue troopers and their family members from all over the world are expected to attend the reunion — which is being held in New York State for the first time, according to a statement.

in Westhampton has been home to pararescuemen since 1975, where pararescue jumpers — or “PJs” — have provided search and rescue support throughout the Northeast and around the globe.
