Schools, Libraries Closed Tuesday Due to Hurricane Sandy

Storm cancels classes for a second day.

For a second day, Hurricane Sandy is causing the closure of local schools and libraries, east of the Shinnecock Canal.

All area public school districts, including Southampton, Tuckahoe, Sag Harbor, Sagaponack and Bridgehampton, have canceled Tuesday classes and activities.

Private schools announced closures as well, including Hayground School, Ross School, Southampton Montessori, and Our Lady of the Hamptons.

Area libraries, including Rogers Memorial, Hampton Library and John Jermain Memorial, are also closed.

A number of day care locations will be closed too: Alternatives For Children, Side by Side Child Care, Southamptom Day Care Center.

The Southampton Town Justice Court closed down early on Monday at noon, and it will remain closed on Tuesday.

The town's four waste transfer stations and recycling centers, in Westhampton, Sag Harbor, Hampton Bays and North Sea, were shut down Monday and will remain closed Tuesday.
