Oil Clean Up Planned for Bay Street

ExxonMobil will replace oily dirt in Sag Harbor, 27east reports.

Starting later this month, ExxonMobil excavation crews will start a cleanup of oil that seeped into the ground on Bay Street many years ago at the site of a former fuel depot, 27east reports.

Near the intersection of Burke Street, crews, overseen by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, will remove about 950 tons of soil and replace it will clean fill, according to the report. The removed dirt will be cleaned and stored off Long Island, 27east reported.
