Report: Dorothea Rockburne Collection Draws on Art World, Mathematics
The Rockburne retrospective is on display at Parrish Art Museum.
The New York Times has published a profile of artist Dorothea Rockburne and a review of "In My Mind's Eye", a show currently featured at the in Southampton Village.
The article paints a portrait of an artist with a passion for mathematics, learning geometry, group theory, topology and other disciplines while immersing herself in the art world as a youth in Canada.
The Parrish Art Museum in late June. The exhibition spans Rockburne's career from the late 1960s to the present and is a combination of abstract, minimalist and modern works inspired by visual interpretations of her self-described revelations of mathematical reality.
