Reminder: Vigil for Marriage Equality Is Tuesday

Same-sex marriage advocates will rally in to see Defense of Marriage Act overturned.

With the Supreme Court expected to hear arguments this week regarding the same sex marriage, local same-marriage supporters will hold a vigil Tuesday in solidarity with a national movement.

The “Light the Way to Justice” vigil, which is one of many being held across the country, will take place at Incarnation Lutheran Church, near the Water Mill-Bridgehampton border, on Tuesday evening.

"The Hamptons Light the Way to Justice Vigil will demonstrate that support for marriage equality runs deep in our community — regardless of one’s age, race, religious beliefs or political affiliation," according to organizers.

"Please come and show support," wrote organizer Lisa Votino-Tarrant, who worked with the Human Rights Campaign to urge the New York State Legislature to legalize same-sex marriage. "Let’s show the world that everyone deserves equal rights and that love is love is love."

Votino-Tarrant is working in conjunction with the Incarnation Lutheran Church's paster, the Rev. Dr. Katrina Foster.

The vigil is from 5 to 7 p.m. March 26. RSVP on Facebook. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs and candles. A group photo is planned, to send to elected officials.

In 1996, to help defend one-man, one-woman marriage from efforts to redefine it, the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly passed - and President Bill Clinton signed -- the "Defense of Marriage Act." It 1) defined marriage in federal law; and, 2) enabled states -- even in the face of claims made pursuant to the Full Faith and Credit Clause -- to decline to recognize same-sex marriages from other states. DOMA defined marriage in federal law as follows: In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word "marriage" means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word "spouse" refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife. 1 U.S.C. 7.

And that is now about to change forever. A majority of Americans now support gay marriage understanding that this is a civil rights issue.

Forever is a long time. Throughout time eternal there have been perverse distortions which have threatened the fabric and logical function of civilized society as our nation continues to deteriorate and degenerate through the disgusting and perverted acts of sick people. Responsible healthy and clear thinking people must reject the abomination that is same sex relations. This warped approach has done more to destroy our nation than any other disease. It must be exterminated with extreme predudice.

The larger question must be "Why is the United States govrnment doing anything to recognize any marriage at all?" What it does is create two distinct classes of people, the wed and the unwed, and rewards some of them with tax and other benefits. It is clear that there is no Constitutional basis for such bias.

Bill Clinton once voted against this ABOMIATION... but since he + the Leftists have no firm convictions + no core values beyond profit + power, he + Obama have opened the door to hell ... the Antichrist is manifest! Expect no authenticity from the Left. Rev. Foster + her ilk, are wolves in sheeps' clothing; homosexual predators join the religious establishments to tear it down. The Devil knows who to use. It is NOT discrimination to treat "differently" things that are different. Homosexuals are the new 'Entitlement' -- how pathetic a display from such a morally handicapped bunch.

Leviticus 18:22 - the Bible: "THOU SHALT NOT LIE WITH MANKIND AS WITH WOMANKIND: IT IS ABOMINATION" Romans 1:26 - "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections; for even their women did change te natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly - giving themselves over to a reprobate mind."

Don't you just love Bible quotes Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are from neighboring nations. Exodus 35:2 If you work on the Sabbath you should be put to death Lev. 19:27 Men are forbidden to trim their hair Lev.19:19 states NO planting two different crops in the same field If you choose to take the continue and look at this aspect Lamech had two wives - Genesis 4:19. Esau had three wives - Genesis 26:34 & 28:9. Jacob had four wives - Genesis 29:28 & 30:4-9. Gideon had many wives - Judges 8:30. Abijah had 14 wives - II Chronicles 13:21. Oh lets continue with some biblical ditties Prisoner of war marriage, between Israelite warriors and Midianite virgins - Numbers 31:1-18. At God’s instruction, the Israelite Army killed all the men and boys of Midian and all the Midianite women who were not virgins. The Israelite warriors then married the surviving virgins, Numbers 31:18. NOW THAT’S A MARRIAGE FOR YA And one of my favorite stories from the bible The partnership of Jonathan and David is an example of same sex marriage in the Bible. Jonathan’s father referred to David as his son in law in I Samuel 18:21

funny how often gays LIE + make up filthy stories to attack the religious... well, like the Pope said, homosexuality is sent from the devil. They do this no matter what they get, 'cause they are never at peace... only doing God's commandments leads to peace... not sodom!. I rest my case.

Wow Christie. You always make such a compelling argument, its hard to imagine anyone who reads your work could possibly support gay marriage. You are logical and clear in your thinking, so educated in what is morally right, and its so hard to argue with your facts. I'm a believer now. Thank you for your supreme guidance.
