Reminder: Vigil for Marriage Equality Is Tuesday

Same-sex marriage advocates will rally in to see Defense of Marriage Act overturned.

With the Supreme Court expected to hear arguments this week regarding the same sex marriage, local same-marriage supporters will hold a vigil Tuesday in solidarity with a national movement.

The “Light the Way to Justice” vigil, which is one of many being held across the country, will take place at Incarnation Lutheran Church, near the Water Mill-Bridgehampton border, on Tuesday evening.

"The Hamptons Light the Way to Justice Vigil will demonstrate that support for marriage equality runs deep in our community — regardless of one’s age, race, religious beliefs or political affiliation," according to organizers.

"Please come and show support," wrote organizer Lisa Votino-Tarrant, who worked with the Human Rights Campaign to urge the New York State Legislature to legalize same-sex marriage. "Let’s show the world that everyone deserves equal rights and that love is love is love."

Votino-Tarrant is working in conjunction with the Incarnation Lutheran Church's paster, the Rev. Dr. Katrina Foster.
