Hundreds of residents came out on a sunny Sunday morning to remember the victims of 9/11, as the Southampton Fire Department, along with the town and village and surrounding fire departments, dedicated a new 9/11 memorial on Hampton Road in honor of those who lost their lives 10 years ago.
The memorial consists of a piece of fallen steel from one of the Twin Towers, along with a single brick laid for every victim who died on that day as a result of the attacks.
Representatives of Southampton Fire Department, Southampton Village and the town spoke, along with Assemb. Fred Thiele, I-Sag Harbor, and Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton.
