Patch Question: Do You Have Power?

LIPA says they are halfway to restoring power, as thousands in eastern Southampton Town are without electricity and cable.

As power is being restored here and there, residents who are at work or out of town, and visitors with plans to come to Southampton, are dying to know if power is back where they live or plan to stay.

LIPA's latest figured show more than a thousand customers without power in the Shinnecock Hills/Tuckahoe area, and 1,867 powerless in the North Sea/Noyac area. In North Haven, 58 outages are reported, and another 211 are reported in Sag Harbor Village. There are about 239 outages in the Bridgehampton/Sagaponack area, according to LIPA. Most of Water Mill and Southampton Village has power back.

Thiele Jr. have called on LIPA to ramp up efforcts to restore power to the Hamptons and the rest of the East End before Labor Day weekend, businesses' last big chance of the year to make a buck before the Summer Swell tapers off.

LIPA's outage map has proved to often be inaccurate or out of date following Tropical Storm Irene, so many are relying on news outlets and their neighbors to find out where power is back.
