Monsignor Remembered at Parade

Edmond J. Trench of Sacred Hearts was a fixture at Southampton's annual Independence Day celebration.

A decade after he had retired from the priesthood, Monsignor Edmond J. Trench was still a celebrity of sorts in Southampton.

The former spiritual leader at was never far from the area, even after he stepped aside in 2000.

He remained the fire department's chaplain, and marched alongside the Southampton Fire Department annually at the town's Independence Day parade.
