L.I. Foundation Gives $50,000 for Shinnecock Clinic

Health clinic will go paperless.

The Shinnecock Health Clinic, a satellite of located on the , will have a new electronic medical and dental records management system thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Long Island Community Foundation.

NextGen software will replace the health care and dental service facility's paper records, an "antiquated and inefficient system," according to Southampton Hospital.

"With the NextGen system, the hospital will improve continuity of care for 750 medical patients and 1,000 dental patients," a hospital statement reads. "Laboratory and radiology information will be integrated electronically with the patient’s medical record along with information from other clinical providers, bringing a patient’s total healthcare record together, and allowing for monthly assessment of patients in need of follow-up care for preventive or chronic disease management."

The grant comes, in part, from the Greentree Foundation Fund and the Henry Shepard Fund, both at the Long Island Community Foundation.
