Thousands Lose Power in Eastern Southampton Town

UPDATE, 1:40 p.m. - Eastern Southampton Town has been hit with major outages, causing thousands to lose power.

LIPA reports that one Hurricane Sandy related incident has caused 2,189 to lose power in Southampton. LIPA says that more than 543 customers are affected by an outage in the Tuckahoe/Shinnecock Hills area, and 551 are impacted by an outage in Southampton Village. There are two minor outages as well, affecting less than five customers each.

In Flying Point in Water Mill, 35 are still without power, and two outages in Noyac have 96 customers powerless.

PREVIOUSLY -

According to the Long Island Power Authority, 99 homes in Noyac and 35 homes in the Flying Point area of Water Mill are currently without power, and minor scattered outages around eastern Southampton Town affecting additional customers.

A tree fell down in Noyac blocking Noyac Road at the Millstone Road intersection. It is unclear if the fallen tree caused Noyac's power outage.

There are two outages reported in both Shinnecock Hills/Tuckahoe and North Sea, each affecting less than five customers. Water Mill and Hill Street and First Neck Lane in Southampton Village each have a minor outage as well. LIPA crews are assigned to most of the affected areas to restore power.
