Extra Trains to East End Added for Labor Day Weekend

With heavy traffic expected for the start of Labor Day Weekend, the LIRR adds service.

The Long Island Rail Road is adding extra afternoon train service on Friday to the Hamptons and the North Fork to help riders get an early start on Labor Day Weekend.

The LIRR also has a holiday schedule on Monday, and a train , citybound from Amagansett, has been moved to Monday.

Additionally, the regular Monday-only train departing from Montauk at 7:01 a.m. and making stops throughout the Hamptons on its way to Hunterspoint Avenue at 9:57 a.m. has been moved to  Tuesday.

The eastbound afternoon train from Ronkonkoma to Yaphank will go all the way east to Greenport on Friday, as it normally does on Fridays during the summer through Columbus Day weekend, the LIRR stated.

Montauk Branch (Penn Station to Jamaica with Montauk Connections)

  • 1:43 PM to Jamaica, with a Montauk train connection.
  • 3:58 PM to Jamaica, with a Montauk train connection.

Ronkonkoma Branch to Greenport

  • The 5:21 PM train from Ronkonkoma to Yaphank is extended on Friday making all stops to Greenport.
