Events: Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Many events are planned to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the East End of Long Island and the rest of the state have many events planned to raise awareness and/or money for the cause.

Southampton Village will have a "pink tree lighting" Monday; Blackwell's in Wading River will host a day of golf and dining Thursday to support The Fund For Uninsured Women at The Fortunato Breast Health Center and Breast Cancer Treatment Services at Mather Hospital and the Shelter Island 5K Walk/Run Oct. 15 supports North Fork Breast Health Coalition and the Coalition for Women's Cancers at . Those are just a few options to donate your money or time during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

  • TREK Women Breast Cancer Awareness Ride, Monroe County – Oct. 8
  • Pink Ribbon Tea and Chinese Auction, Albany – Oct. 9
  • SIS Pink Tie Gala (Sustain, Inspire, Survive), Fairport – Oct. 28

Also, all month long, Panera Bread in Hampton Bays and will be selling pink-ribbon bagels. Proceeds will got to local breast cancer support and research organizations.
