East End Hurricane Preparedness Seminar Is Thursday

LIPA and elected officials host event in Bridgehampton.

East End officials and the Long Island Power Authority's chief operating officer will present a Hurricane Preparedness seminar Thursday evening in Bridgehampton.

The aim of the seminar is to ready for extreme weather events that could strike the East End — like Tropical Storm Irene did last September, leaving many in the area without power for days.

"Residents are encouraged to come learn about LIPA's new preparedness, communication, emergency, and restoration procedures and initiatives," states a release from the office of New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele. "Learn about ways you can better prepare for and manage a power outage caused by an extreme weather event."
