Hyler Drive itself is dry now first half but toward end of street its a flooded lake. Homes are little islands - no electricity
mgreene August 28, 2011 at 11:53 pm
Still very windy in Greenport and still no power since 7am. Surprising since Greenport provides its own power.

Just a little wind in Millbrook Gables. Lots of little branches and twigs on the ground. Thanks to great neighbors a great kid who is just 13 helped me with moving everything inside before the storm hit, and a neighbor, the boys father, cleared the leaves, sticks etc off my walkway and driveway with his leaf blower. Couldn't have made it without their help. My dog and I were ready to rough it out.. I have large tree branches that hand over my house & I was afraid they would fall on my house, but lucky so far. Best wishes to all good people who have power outages and damage.
mgreene August 29, 2011 at 01:25 am
Finally power back on in Greenport. Still quite gusty. Hoping trees can hold through the night.

Does anyone know how to report downed telephone poles to Verizon? U would think it would occur to them to make this easy for folks to do, but apparently they want to hide the info...
Brendan J. O'Reilly (Editor) August 29, 2011 at 11:58 am
You can try LIPA: 1-800-490-0075

Power went off again in Greenport around 7pm but came back on about 20 mins later. Noticed numerous trees leaning on power lines in/around Southold this afternoon.

As a result, the Washington-based bank said it is stepping up support for efforts to curb climate change and to help the world adapt to it. Maud, very well presented. We as citizens should never be so blind as to have contempt prior toRead More investigation. I would hope all who read your post love the environment as much as it appears you do. If we citizens prefer to be stewards of our own lives and property than we need to stand up and investigate that which the town board so very much wants to approve.
