County Road 39A Night Closures Begin Tuesday

Traffic will be redirected during roadwork for two or three nights.

Part of County Road 39A in Southampton will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday nights due to roadwork, and possibly Thursday night as well.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works and the Long Island Rail Road will be implementing safety upgrades at a LIRR crossing as part of an ongoing road widening project.

The closure will be in effect between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Eastbound traffic on County Road 39 will be sent south to David Whites Lane and then east on Hampton Road.

Westbound traffic from Montauk Highway/State Route 27 will be directed to continue straight on Hampton Road, then north to County Road 39.

Simultaneously, LIRR service is suspended, and trains are replaced by buses, from 2:13 a.m. Tuesday until 2:30 a.m. Friday, due to bridgework.
