Citizens Police Academy Taking Applications

Southampton Town police are offering a 14-session course to civilians.

The is taking applications for the Citizens Police Academy, a course designed to give civilians an insider’s look at local law enforcement.

Participants attend demontrations and are trained in the law and the tactics police officers use. They will receive special training and have the opportunity to ride along with an officer on patrol.

“We are looking for interested community leaders and members willing to attend,” Chief William Wilson said.

The course will run on Monday nights from Sept. 12 to Dec. 12 from 6 p.m. till about 10 p.m.
