American Music Fest Takes Over Sag Harbor

Festival includes free performances.

Designed to promote Sag Harbor as a cultural destination, the Sag Harbor American Music Festival, taking place Friday and Saturday, celebrates jazz, blues, folk, R&B and other American music with performances all over the village.

The inaugural festival kicks off with a fundraiser and concert at Bay Street Theatre with Monica Mancini in a tribute to her father, composer and conductor Henry Mancini, and Randy Brecker’s All-Star East End Band. Festivities begin Friday at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m.

Then on Saturday, free performances begin at a dozen Sag Harbor venues indoors and out. Acts include Jim Turner, “American Idol” contestant Leah Laurenti, Caroline Doctorow & the Steamrollers, Alfredo Merat, Bryan Downey, Julie Kathryn, Escola De Samba BOOM, Who Dat Loungers, The Montauk Project, and many more. Dan Bailey & Living Rhythm will perform at the official after party at Dodds & Eder at 9 p.m. Saturday. A $10 donation will be collected at the door.
