Update 7:20 p.m. - County Road 39 eastbound is back open following an accident that involved two or more vehicles.

County Road 39 eastbound in Southampton is closed at Tuckahoe Lane, as wreckers take away two vehicles involved in an accident.
The accident happened before 6:30 p.m. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, between a Honda S2000, with airbags deployed and severe front-end damge, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer with minimal visable damage. It is possible that other vechicles were involved.
Multiple ambulance vehicles from Southampton Volunteer Ambulance were on scene, as well as Southampton Town police.
Vechicles are being detoured down Tuckahoe Lane, to Montauk Highway, but the detour traffic is backed up as eastbound vehicles make left turns onto Montauk Highway. Vehicles headed north on Tuckahoe Lane from Montauk Highway are at a standstill, because they canot get past the County Road 39 intersection.
