A 100-acre parcel in Yaphank east of a new railroad depot is being eyed as a potential site for a casino run by the , Newsday reports.
A small casino could open in a former Estée Lauder warehouse west of the property while the parcel is developed for a larger facility, according to Newsday. The Shinnecock are considering establishing a casino in Suffolk County because a casino being planned at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens would have an "exclusion zone" with a 25-mile radius, making Nassau County essentially off-limits, Newsday reports.
