10 Celebrity Moments in Southampton in 2011

See which celebrities hung out in the Hamptons this year.

We all know Southampton is a playground for the rich and famous. So, here's a look back at some of the book signings, talks, fundraisers, parties and other events Southampton Patch spotted them at in 2011.

- Alec Baldwin attended the opening reception of artist Paton Miller's weekend-long benefit show for the Hamptons International Film Festival.

- Ina Garten, the "Barefoot Contessa," hosted a benefit in June for at in Sagaponack. Celebrity guests included Alec Baldwin, singer and actress Cynthia Basinet, and designer Nicole Miller.

- Model and actress Beth Stern, the wife of Howard Stern, attended and had the privelledge of tossing the ball out to the field. Speaking of the Sterns, check out she rescued.

- Andy Cohen of Bravo TV emceed and Katie Lee, Beth Stern, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Loraine Boyle, Libby Edelman, Barry Sonnenfeld and Susan Ringo were among the attendees at the Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Heat Wave Benefit at .

- "Dead Man Walking" actress Susan Sarandon caused some controversy this summer over a remark she made about the pope while being interviewed by Bob Balaban at in Sag Harbor as part of the Hamptons International Film Festival "A Conversation With" series. While explaining that the nun she portrayed in "Dead Man Walking" gave a copy of the film to the pope, she clarified she was talking about, "The last one, not this Nazi one." She pointed out that Pope Benedict XVI was a member of the Hitler Youth — membership was mandatroy for German teens — and the Catholic League and the Anti-Defamation League took exception.

- Billy Joel has a large collection of motorcycles he keeps in Sag Harbor, and in August he was spotted out and about in the village outside with his classic Royal Enfield. He agreed to stop and pose for a photo.

- The 14th annual Super Saturday shopping sale for Ovarian Cancer Resarch Fund raised $3.5 million this weekend. Emma Roberts and Kelly Ripa hosted the world famous garage sale at Nova's Ark in Water Mill on Saturday, along with Donna Karen, Ariel Foxman and InStyle magazine. Celebrity guests included NBA star Kris Humphries, Rachel Zoe, Abigail Breslin, Kelly Rutherford, Edie Falco, La La Anthony, Gayle King, Beth Stern, Christy Turlington Burns, Lisa Rinna and many more.

- The , which is based in Wainscott and has , held its annual beach ball, "Magic Under the Moonlight,"at the . The evening honored Dr. Lewis Berman, a veterinarian and the founder of Park East Animal Hospital. New York Post columnist Cindy Adams presented Dr. Berman with his award. All proceeds from the event benefit the ARF adoption center.

- "Unconditional Love," a benefit for the Southampton Animal Shelter held in July at the Southampton Village home of Chuck and Ellen Scarborough, honored Karen LeFrak.

- New York City "housewife" Sonya Morgan was among the celebs at the Southampton Hospital summer party.
