10 Celebrity Moments Around Southampton in 2012

See which celebrities hung out in the Hamptons this past year.

All summer and into the fall in 2012, celebrities — whether they be film stars or political figures — came out to the Southampton area for high profile events.

• Bridgehampton resident Christie Brinkley was honored in June by the South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center, in Bridgehampton, for her years of work to raise awareness of the ecological health of the waters and the dangers of nuclear power. Daughter Alexa Ray Joel joined her at the gala.

• Also in June, Alec Baldwin and Billy Joel joined in celebrating Group for the East End's 40th anniversaryat Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack.

Chris Bauer of "True Blood" and "The Wire" and Aida Turturro of "The Sopranos" were among the guests at Bay Street Theatre's annual Rock the Dock fundraiser on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor in July.

• Actor Richard Gere, who has a home on the South Fork, was honored with the Golden Starfish Award for Lifetime Achievement at Guild Hall in East Hampton during the Hamptons International Film Festival in October. Alec Baldwin, who interviewed Gere on the Guild Hall stage, joined Gere on the red carpet, as did Baldwin's wife, Hilaria Thomas, and Nicholas Jarecki, the writer and director of "Arbitrage."

• Also at the Hamptons International Film Festival, a movie that was shot on location in Southampton in 2010 had its world premiere. "Refuge" stars Krysten Ritter ("Breaking Bad," "Don't Trust the B— in Apartment 23"), Madeleine Martin ("Californication"), Logan Huffman ("V") and Brian Geraghty ("The Hurt Locker," "Jarhead"). Patch spoke with Martin and Geraghty, who both attended the festival.

Mark Feuerstein, the star of "Royal Pains" — a medical dramedy set and partially filmed in the Hamptons — enjoyed Sunset Fridays at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack in July.

Jill Rappaport, the popular “Today Show” reporter, and Georgina Bloomberg, the daughter of New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and a grand prix rider who is an ASPCA equine welfare ambassador, hosted the ASPCA adoption day at the 37th annual Hampton Classic in August.

• During Grand Prix Sunday at the Hampton Classic in September, among the celebrities under the VIP tent were Jill Zarin of "The Real Housewives of New York," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, James Lipton of "Inside the Actors Studio" and Rosanna Scotto of Fox 5 New York.

• In July, presidential contender Mitt Romney attended three political fundraisers in one day, and the one at David Koch's Southampton Village estate on Meadow Lane drew a massive protest.

• Vice President Joe Biden visited Bridgehampton in August for an Obama presidential re-election fundraiser with Nathan Lane. Vera Wang, Julianne Moore, Isaac Mizrahi, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Barry Sonnenfeld and Edie Falco were among the names on the host committee.
