UPDATE: Power Restored in Tuckahoe/Shinnecock Hills

Outage Wednesday night affected more than 1,000 LIPA customers and County Road 39 traffic lights.

Update 8:09 p.m. - The LIPA Storm Center now reports that power has been restored to more than 1,000 homes and businesses.

A power outage in the Tuckahoe/Shinnecock Hills area Wednesday night has left hundreds without electricity and knocked out traffic lights at the Magee Street and Sandy Hollow Road intersections of County Road 39.

Police sent units to direct traffic while power is restored to the intersection. After earlier reporting that more than 300 customers were without electricity, the Long Island Power Authority upped its estimate to 1,096 customers around 7:50 p.m. 

According to the LIPA Storm Center, a crew has been assigned, and power should be restored by 8:30 p.m.
