Suffolk Legislature Unanimously Approves Mario Mattera for SCWA Board

Mario Mattera of St. James was sworn in as a Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) board member on Monday night, March 31, at the SCWA headquarters in Oakdale.

“Mario brings to the table a tremendous amount of business expertise that will be extremely valuable to us as we continue our efforts to make the Suffolk County Water Authority as lean and efficient as possible,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo.

Mr. Mattera currently serves as business agent for Plumbers Local Union #200 of Ronkonkoma, where he is trustee for union funds and responsible for the management of $150 million in pension funds, welfare and annuity. Mr. Mattera has also served on the Suffolk County Workforce Housing Commission since 2008; the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Plumbing Licensing and Fire Protection Board since 2009; the Riverhead Empire Zone since 2010; the Apprenticeship Board since 2003; and Helmets to Hardhats, benefiting veterans, since 2007.

“I’m extremely excited to have an opportunity to offer my business skills to a corporation that has made tremendous strides in cutting wasteful spending under the current administration,” said Mattera.
