While It Lasts: Home Decor Pop-Up Closes Sept. 15

hermanHOME visits Southampton from Florida.

A St. Petersburg home furnishings and design center, named hermanHOME, opened a pop-up shop this summer in Southampton, and now there are only 10 days left before the store packs up and the co-owner heads back to Florida.

HermanHOME is a joint venture of developer Steve Herman and interior designer Ed Biggs specializing in home accents retail and design services.

Biggs spent his summer in Southampton managing the pop-up, located in the shopping center at 850 County Road 39.

“I've been doing design work for almost 30 years now, and I’ve done work all over the county; in England, the Caymen Islands," Biggs said.

Biggs first met Herman when he decorated his home in Florida. Herman hired him twice more, for homes in Huntington and Montauk.

Herman was so impressed with his work, Biggs said, that he asked him to go into business together, and was born in 2009.

Biggs said hermanHOME ranges from the middle range to high end. “Definitely not starter furniture."

The leather and wood furniture comes from all over the world, he said, and he purchases upholstered furniture from High Point, N.C., where the international home furnishings Market is held every April and October.

“Not much is made in this country anymore, so we bring it in from some of the best suppliers in the world," Biggs said.

The pop-up includes an area rug and lighting gallery, but it is only one fourth the size of what the hermanHOME's St. Petersburg store has. Biggs said he had to be selective about what to bring up from Florida.

Biggs has been staying at Herman's Montauk condo this season, commuting to Southampton. “I've met some people, been invited to some great parties," he said. "It's been a fun experience.”

HermanHOME is open from 11 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday until Sept. 15.

The pop-up is located in between Sleepy's and the new gourmet pizzeria and restaurant .
